Olympic Luge in P.E. Class

More Than Peach by Bellen Woodard

More Than Peach follows a young girl who loves to color and notices that the crayon labeled “peach” doesn’t actually match everyone’s skin. As she looks around at her family, friends, and community, she realizes people come in many beautiful shades - not just one. She begins to understand that no single color can represent all people, and she learns to celebrate differences instead of fitting everyone into the same box.

This story helps children understand and appreciate differences in a simple, age-appropriate way. It opens the door for positive conversations about skin color, identity, and inclusion, while encouraging empathy and kindness. More Than Peach reminds children that everyone is unique and valuable, helping them build confidence in who they are and respect for others.

While Miss Webb read this story to the Pre-K class, they immediately began sharing how they are all different shades and that's what makes them so special. "I'm brown and you're brown, but my brown is a little darker than yours." Some children even began comparing skin tones. The story lead to great conversations and beautiful moments in our classroom!

Winter Olympics

Olympic Fever has hit HCA! Last week, the Pre-K students were so excited to learn about this year's Winter Olympics being held in Italy! They discovered some of the sports involved in the Winter Olympics, saw where Italy is on the globe in relation to the USA, and learned that the Olympic mascots are two stoats named Tina and Milo!

Miss Mann does an amazing job bringing the Olympics to HCA in PE class! The students started with their very own Olympic torch relay. They passed the torch to each other and were able to take a lap running with the torch.

Then, it was time for some figure skating - both individual and pairs! Paper plates make great ice skates on the gym floor. Look at their form!

Miss Mann even taught us curling! Instead of stones, we used scooters, and the "house" was the circle at center court. We had SO much fun!

Alphabet Mystery Box

We have a new game in Pre-K - Alphabet Mystery Box! In the game, you have to choose an object from the mystery box, say its name and what sound it begins with, and then match it to the letter on the board. The boys and girls LOVE it! Not only are we practicing letter sounds, but also patience, teamwork, and being a good sport!

Thank you for sending in valentines for the students to share with their friends. To say they were excited was an understatement! We had a great time playing games and sharing some snacks (thank you to Ms. Z. for sharing!) and just being together as friends. There is a lot of love in this class!
