December 1-5, 2025

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Before the break, we had so much fun sharing in our Charlie Brown Friendsgiving feast! It was great to see all of the Early Childhood students come together and share in the true meaning of the holiday.

The Pre-K and Kindergarten students were amazing "balloon-handlers" for our Balloons Over Broadway Thanksgiving Parade! They paraded around school and the older students lined the halls to cheer for them. It was so much fun! A huge shout-out to Dr. Kellich and Dr. Oates for all pictures and videos!

Mrs. Fox surprised the class and was our mystery reader! The boys and girls were so excited to have her in our classroom.

We welcomed December with open arms on Monday! This month, we have a Kindness Tree in our classroom. We talk about what it means to be kind and the students were able to share some wonderful examples. Each time someone is "caught being kind," they get to hang an ornament on our tree. Our goal is to have our tree filled with ornaments by the time we leave for break and remember to be kind all year long!

The Pre-K students were excited to see the Christmas work on the shelves and the Christmas decorations in the classroom. Of course, they had to make some of their own as well. We did a Rudolph directed drawing activity and the final products are phenomenal! So many teachers have stopped by to praise the students for their beautiful work!

We also learned about St. Nicholas! Saint Nicholas was a kind bishop who lived long ago. He loved giving secret gifts to help people, especially children and those in need. He became the inspiration for Santa Claus because of his generosity, teaching us to be kind and share, which is why we put out one of our shoes and get treats on his special day, December 6th, to remember his giving spirit. The students were able to understand the connections between what St. Nicholas did and what they are doing to help children in need during our toy drive!

The boys and girls were so excited to discover that St. Nicholas' spirit lives on at Holy Child Academy!

As the school drive coordinators, Pre-K and Kindergarten are collecting new, unwrapped toys for families in need. The last day to bring in toys is Thursday, December 11. Thank you in advance for helping us help others!

The ultimate goal of show and tell is to provide opportunities for the children to develop their public speaking skills in a setting that is comfortable for them. They work to use their "big voice" and speak confidently in front of their peers. The students are doing such a wonderful job with this and we are so proud of them!

Show and tell is also gives the Pre-K boys and girls an additional chance to practice their letter sounds. The sooner they master letter names and letter sounds, the sooner they will see how to put those sounds together to begin to read. Please keep this in mind when helping your child select an item to share!
  • Wednesday, December 10: something that begins with the /f/ sound
  • Wednesday, December 17: something to do with Christmas

  • Please remember to send in a seasonal change of clothes for your child. We will return the summer clothes when we receive them. Thank you!
  • Pre-K students should wear their regular uniform with sneakers to school on Monday, December 8.
  • Mark your calendars for the Christmas Show on Wednesday, December 17, at 6:00 pm. We can't wait for you to see our angels shine!

All aboard the Pre-K train!
