February 2-6, 2026

Last Friday, we celebrated Emerson's birthday! His parents and grandparents came in to read Are You My Cutie Patootie? and share in an epic dance party, complete with instruments! We had so much fun, we didn't even remember to get a group picture. Happy 5th birthday, Emerson!

We also celebrated Miss Webb's birthday! The boys and girls did a "top secret mission" to make birthday cards for her and decorate our door. They spent play time making various creations to shower her with lots of love on her special day.

Love Monsters

We read the story Love Monster by Rachel Bright. It is a book about a furry little monster who feels different and lonely because he doesn’t fit in with the cute, fluffy creatures around him. Determined to find someone who will love him just the way he is, Love Monster sets off on a journey and discovers that love often shows up when you least expect it - with a new friend! In the end, he learns that being yourself is exactly what makes you lovable.

Then, we did a directed drawing and the students drew their own Love Monsters! Each is unique - just like they are! They also practiced their cutting and pasting skills - all by themselves. Then, we asked the children what does it mean to be a friend? We loved their responses!

Jack: "Friends are kind."

Sarah: "Friends love playing with each other."

Wolf: "Friends share true love."

An: "A friend loves."

Louis: "A friend shares and says kind words."

Emerson: "Being a friend means loving
people."

Lamar: "Friends share to be best friends."

Khadijah: "Friends are nice and beautiful."

Mia: "A friend gives hugs."

Eli: "Friends give hugs and are nice to
each other."

Rogan: "Friends give flowers to each other."

Sophia: "A friend is nice."

Emily: "Friends play with each other."

Kai: "Friends share. They are kind, nice,
and happy."

Lexie: "Friends are nice to each other and
they share toys."

Aline: "A friend gives hugs and is kind."

Siobhan: "Friends give good hugs."

Bennett: "A friend tells people they
love each other."

While they were waiting for others to finish, Shiv and Louis started playing with their love monsters at their table. We overheard "Let's play together! It doesn't matter what color our fur is - we can still be friends!" A great message for so many to hear!

Creative Kiddos!

Blocks aren't just for building -
we can write our names with them, too!

Show and Tell "L"

Lions, and Legos, and lemons - oh my! The Pre-K students gave excellent clues to help their classmates guess which "L" object they chose to share.

Pre-K and Kindergarten students are eagerly anticipating the 100th day of school! As of now, if we do not have any more snow days, the 100th day of school will be on Tuesday, February 17. We are planning a special day full of fun activities for the students together!

We are inviting all families to participate in a very special 100th day project! We would like each child to bring in 100 of something. This can be presented in any way you like - maybe 100 cheerios in a bag, 100 stickers on a poster, or 100 pom-poms on a shirt. We encourage you to get creative - Google and Pinterest have some fantastic ideas! The students will be sharing their 100 day creations with the classes on the 100th day of school. All projects are due in school by Thursday, February 12. You may send them in earlier if they are finished.
