January 11-15, 2021

 Welcome back!

We are so glad to have the children back in school!

We are thrilled to welcome (back) our new classmate, Lily! The boys and girls have welcomed her with open arms and are so glad she is a part of our class.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

This week, we started learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. and all he worked to do to make our world a better place. The boys and girls were shocked to learn about the segregation that existed in our country and how discrimination sadly still exists today. We listened to an excerpt of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech and had wonderful discussions about how his dream brought about change. The students brainstormed ideas for their own dreams:

We also discussed ways we are the same and ways we are different. The Pre-K students learned that it is important to celebrate our differences because that is what makes us so special! They know they can make a difference and become a leader like Dr. King by being kind, generous, and accepting of everyone.

Important reminders:

  • Please remember to pack napkins for snack and lunch everyday!
  • There is no school on Monday, January 18th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
  • Save the date: January 27th is school picture day (individual photos only).
  • January is Native month where we celebrate Native People's history and culture. If you or someone you know would be willing to share with a class, a division, or multiple groups either in person, via Zoom, or through a pre-recorded clip, please email
  • Looking forward, February is Black History Month and March is Women's Month. Please email if you have any ideas.

  • EC report cards will be sent home the week of February 1, 2021.

Our Pre-K project "What Makes Me Special" is due on Wednesday, January 20. We will use this as our show and tell next week and then display them in school. The boys and girls are excited for their first "big kid" project. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Today we celebrated the birthday of Cornelia Connelly,
the foundress of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus,

Have a great weekend!
