 Show and Tell

The Pre-K students did a great job with show and tell this week. They are able to identify the letter name as well as make the /r/ sound. Look at all the wonderful things they brought to share!

Derek and his rhinoceros

Gavin and Robin

Johnny brought rice

Amelia and her Rubik's cube

Basil and Rudolph

Mahalia brought rings

Carina brought red rice

AJ and his race cars

Connor brought a race car, too!

Kalea and her rabbit

R says /r/!

We're halfway there!

Wednesday marked the halfway point in our school year! The boys and girls are halfway to kindergarten! The EC students celebrated with a dance party in the hall as they arrived to school. What a fun way to start the day!

Important Reminders:

  • Student Council will be selling Candy Grams.  $1 per gram - cash or check only.  Blank candy gram forms can be accessed here and copies were sent home in the children's folders.  Sales end Thursday, 2/10.  Grams will be delivered on Monday, 2/14.
  • Students will be allowed to wear free dress for Valentine’s Day on Monday 2/14.
  • Today is the last day to purchase Nothing Bundt cake! Click the link here to purchase: https://www.holychildacademy.com/page.cfm?p=854.
  • Students in PreK, Kindergarten, and 7th grade are collecting food and gently used clothing for Murphy’s Giving Market in Upper Darby. All donations will be collected until Wednesday, February 23rd. See the Happenings for more details.
  • Show and tell will be on Wednesday, February 2. The topic will be something that begins with the /c/ sound. Please try to send in something that begins with the hard /c/ sound like in cake, cat, or carrot. At this stage, the soft /c/ sound (as in Cinderella, cereal, or city) makes the children think of S.
  • Looking ahead: there will be no school on Friday, February 18 (faculty in-service) or Monday, February 21 (Presidents’ Day).
  •

Murphy's Giving Market

Murphy’s Giving Market was founded by a HCA family in an effort to stomp out food insecurities within the communities in which it serves. They believe that everyone has the right to sufficient, safe and healthy food with options and that people should be served with dignity and respect and treated as our friends, shopping at the free market with a choice and a voice.

For our drive, Pre-K and Kindergarten will be collecting canned goods, boxed items (ex.: pasta, cereal, rice, mac and cheese), and especially individually packaged children's snack items (ex.: granola bars, fruit snacks, cookies, goldfish crackers, individual cereal boxes).

The 7th grade will also be collecting gently used adult and children's clothing for any season.

Click here to see our video for the drive. We will have boxes in school to collect the items. The drive will run from February 1-23.

Have a great weekend! Enjoy the snow!
