New Montessori Lessons
The Pre-K students have been introduced to a variety of new lessons. They are always so excited when new work is put out on the shelves! The students have enjoyed practicing these lessons on their own to develop and strengthen their skills.
Geography
Teigen is using the Sandpaper Globe to distinguish between the land and water. |
Gavin is working with the Painted Globe to see the different continents. |
Derek is exploring the World Map puzzle. |
Carina is starting to work on her own world map by tracing North America |
Kalea worked with the Continent Three- Part Cards to match the continents pictures with their names. |
Sensorial
Basil is working with the first box of Constructive Triangles to build geometric figures from triangles. |
Johnny is working with Color Box 3 to grade colors from darkest to lightest. |
Amelia is working with Color Box 4 to match and grade colors from darkest to lightest. |
Math
Dmitri is working with the Short Bead Chain to practice linear and skip counting. |
Mahalia is practicing one-to-one correspondence to count objects and write the corresponding numeral. |
Language
Connor is completing a "write the room" activity. The children find the object hidden around the room and write the word on the corresponding line. This is called copy writing. |
Geoffrey Groundhog
During the month of February, Geoffrey Groundhog visits the Pre-K. Each day, he will hide in a different place in the classroom and the children have to find him and describe where he is using positional words. This is always a fun activity for the children and gives them a great opportunity to practice describing something in more detail. For example, today Geoffrey was on the calm down couch, next to his favorite book.
I am sure you will hear all about Geoffrey's adventures in our classroom!
